DIY STORMY CLOUD CEILING
Updated: 14 hours ago
This DIY stormy cloud ceiling gave our dining room the perfect amount of Halloween magic. I took down the ceiling light so the sheet and clouds could spread across the ceiling without interruption. The different settings on the LED strip lights give the clouds a moody, stormy-sky feel and completely change the look of the room.
what you’ll need
White Flat Sheet
Polyester Filling
Spray Adhesive
LED Strip Lights
Command Velcro Strips
Floating Candles
Crazy Glue
Scissors
a few tips before you start
✦ Cover your work surface before using spray adhesive, and follow the directions on the can.
✦ Work in small sections so the adhesive doesn’t dry before you add the stuffing.
✦ Determine where you will plug in the strip light so that you can ensure you attach the end piece to the right corner of the sheet

THE PROCESS ↓
STEP 1: PREP THE FABRIC & ATTACH COMMAND STRIPS
Spread the flat sheet out on a large, protected surface face down first. Smooth it out so you have room to build the cloud. I attached the commands strips using crazy glue too make sure it would hold. I used around 12 because my sheet was quite large.
STEP 2 - POSITION THE LIGHTS
First, decide what corner your strips lights should end and start there. Lay the string lights across the fabric, spreading randomly across sheet.
STEP 3 - ADD THE CLOUDS
Working in small sections, apply spray adhesive to the fabric according to the product directions. Press pieces of polyester filling onto the fabric, building up a fluffy, uneven cloud shape around the lights.
STEP 4 - HANG THE CLOUD
One by one, peel off the back of a command strip and secure to the ceiling (hold for 30 seconds), continue this for all strips. This will go a lot easier if you have a helping hand. We work from one end of the sheet to the other.
STEP 5 - HANG THE CANDLES
I purchased a kit from Amazon that came with a wand, the candles, clear string and hooks. I just placed the candles wherever I felt they worked best by using crazy glue to secure hook to the sheet.
